The 34th International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) Annual Conference will be held in Cambridge, England, from 7 – 12 September 2008. It will be hosted by Europe's largest assessment agency, Cambridge Assessment, as part of the celebrations for its 150th anniversary. Cambridge Assessment is a department of the University of Cambridge. It is a not-for-profit organisation incorporating three major exam boards: University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); University of Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages (Cambridge ESOL); and OCR.
The IAEA Annual Conference is recognised as a major event in assessment, bringing together leading assessment and education experts and providers of examinations from around the world. It provides a forum for participants to share professional expertise and strengthen mutual understanding and relationships. The theme of IAEA 2008 is Re-interpreting Assessment: Society, Measurement and Meaning.
The main conference sessions will be held at West Road Concert Hall and Robinson College, Cambridge University’s newest college and home of the Prince of Wales’ education summer school in 2006. The college is an architecturally striking, highly functional building set in several acres of attractive wooded gardens close to the city centre. Social functions will include a welcome reception at Robinson College and a gala dinner in the magnificent Great Hall at King's College, one of Cambridge University's oldest colleges, founded in 1441 by Henry VI.
Cambridge is situated in the east of England, less than one hour away from London. It is a beautiful city with magnificent architecture, ancient cobbles, attractive river banks and tranquil green spaces. With its constant growth and high-tech science parks, Cambridge is the birthplace of some of the most recent scientific and technological advances and home of the world famous University of Cambridge.
Cambridge Assessment looks forward to welcoming you to Cambridge.
